Questions
These are the questions people write to us most often. If your question is about a document you do not want to describe in a group, or about a S$60 seat, use the contact form and we will reply in support hours. We do not publish other people’s names or comments here.
Do I need to be good with computers?
No. You need a phone or a tablet, an email address, and a way to sit for 60 minutes without being pulled away. We open one assistant together. If tapping is tiring, look at Voice, Dictation and Big Text, or book a one-to-one hour to set dictation up before the month starts.
What device do I need?
A smartphone or a tablet is enough. A laptop is welcome. We do not require a new machine. The settling call is where we check camera, sound and type size. If the screen is small, a tablet is kinder than a phone, and you can take the whole course on it.
What does a course cost?
S$180 for four weeks. Two courses booked together are S$320. A 90-minute evening workshop is S$45. A private hour is S$90. In each cohort a few seats are S$60; write to us if the full fee is more than you can pay. We do not ask for paperwork to prove it.
What if I miss a week?
The recording of that lesson is sent to you. You may also repeat that one lesson in the next cohort of the same course, at no charge, if a seat is free. We do not run a fifth catch-up evening inside the same month.
Are the lessons recorded?
Yes. Each live hour is recorded for the people in that group. You keep the recording after the course ends. We do not publish class recordings on this website. Printed notes are posted separately, in large type, to a Singapore address.
Do I have to live in Singapore?
Classes are online, in Singapore time, and taught in English. Printed notes are posted to Singapore addresses. The Novena office is for people who can attend by appointment. If you are away for one week, the recording still covers that lesson.
What language is the class in?
English. We use British spelling on this site and in the notes. You do not need technical vocabulary. You do need to follow a live conversation at an ordinary speaking pace. We can slow a step; we cannot run the hour in another language.
How do I get a subsidised seat?
Write to hello@beautyfulliving.pro, or use the contact form, and say that you want a S$60 seat. Tell us which course and whether mornings or evenings fit. We hold a small number in each cohort. When they are taken, we say so and offer the next month.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Before the first lesson starts, we return the fee in full. After the first lesson, unused weeks are returned minus that first lesson. Workshops follow the same line: full return until the session starts.
Is there an age rule?
Courses are for people aged 55 and over. That is the group we designed the pace, the type size, and the notes for. If you are booking for a parent, they should be the person on the call.
Every class has two people on the call: the one teaching and a helper watching the chat. We do not list staff names or portraits on this site. The helper is there so that “where is the button” does not wait until the last five minutes. Groups stay at eight. If you want a private hour instead of a group, that is S$90, by video or at Novena by appointment.
New cohorts start on the first Tuesday of each month. Morning and evening groups use the same material. Exact clock times are confirmed by email when we hold the seat, because they shift slightly with the intake. Support hours are Monday to Friday 10:00–18:00 and Saturday 10:00–13:00, Singapore time. Classes also run on weekday evenings. We do not print a year-long calendar on this page, because a postponed group would make the page wrong.
Write two lines. Name the course if you have one in mind. Say whether a phone or a tablet is easier, and whether you have opened an assistant before. We will answer with one suggestion, the next first-Tuesday date, and the fee including a S$60 seat if you asked for one.
